Some things we have started noticing around Canggu.
Wellness used to be something you did for yourself.
Go to the gym.
Take a yoga class.
Get a massage.
Go home.
Now, it often comes with a group chat, a coffee afterwards, and plans for next weekend. Somewhere along the way, wellness became social.
THE RUN CLUB IS THE NEW GROUP CHAT
There was a time when people met for coffee. Now, they meet for a run first and coffee afterwards.
Run clubs have become an easy way to meet people, discover new routes, and turn an ordinary morning into a social occasion.
EVERYONE HAS A FAVOURITE PILATES STUDIO
Everyone seems to have a favourite studio, a preferred instructor, and a class time they never miss.
It is about movement, of course. But also routine, community, and seeing familiar faces every week.
PADEL IS SOMEHOW EVERYWHERE
At some point, padel went from “What is that?” to “Are we playing this weekend?”
Part workout, part competition, part excuse to get four people together, it has quickly become another way to spend time with friends.
Even if you are not very good at it.
WELLNESS HAS A DRESS CODE
There is an outfit for yoga, one for running, one for padel, and somehow another one for the coffee afterwards.
Activewear has moved beyond the studio. In Canggu, looking ready for a workout and looking ready for lunch can be almost the same thing.
ONE MORE THING
Maybe wellness did not really become more complicated.
We simply started doing it together. Around Canggu, a workout can be a way to meet someone, a coffee can turn into lunch, and a casual Saturday activity can become a weekly ritual. At The Komu, we see this social side of travel every day, people heading out together, meeting someone new, or coming back with plans for tomorrow.
Perhaps it is the nicest part of wellness.
You do not always have to do it alone.
